well u probably dunno me, in fact i dunt have an idea whom you are as well... just linked here from yanyan's diary, and cant resist to leave a comment... with all due respect, just wanted to pt out a few things

1. whether or not one's being civilized is not judged by a relative scale, it's not like "he beated me up so it's ok for me to fight back", if sth is uncivilized in nature, it's still uncivilized even when other people are doing that/did that.. the japanese had done (or still doing) uncivilized things in the history, but that doesnt justify us to do things that are uncivilized in nature

2. "¤@Ó¬F©²§Q¥Î¤H¥Áªº¥Ü«Â§Üij¨Óªí¹F¹ï¥t¤@Ó°ê®aªº¤£º¡ªº§@ªk" is not a wrong thing i agree. yet you are distorting/selectively ignoring wut yanyan was trying to express. wut he was referring to was the people being treated as a tool, and allowed to voice themselves out only when the effect would be beneficial to the government.

3. ¦Ü©ó³o¦¸¤Ï¤é, §Ú¯uªº¤£»{¬°³d¥ô¦b§Ú¤è. generally true. at least we werent the triggering factor and the japanese were wrong in the first place. yet, how we response to a wrong act will be judged as well. so if we responsed in an unresponsible, uncivilized manner, we would have part of the responsibility as well. in fact, in most of the conflicts, the responsibility lies on both sides, just in different ratio. and this also comes back to the point where yanyan pointed out the importance of responding to an uncivilized act in a civilized manner. bcoz this is the time when a quality of a country's people are judged.

It's true that it's a very controversial issue and I think I'm not in the position to say anything about it, as I haven't really experienced the critical eras in the Chinese history before.

Nationalism, sense of belonging to the own nation and ethnic group, passion to fight against foreign imperialist aggression... all of these should be granted credits.

Richie was right in interpreting my pt that... i'm sorry for the ppl being "utilized" unconsciously as tools... while it's nothing wrong for them to express their opinions in a justifiable manner. But the government is deliberately placing a selective filter in the expression and disclosure of people's feelings and opinions...

And if the situation has gone that far to be outrageous and out of control,  and it's rebellion against the authority of the domestic rule of the political party/government, .... I"m sure that it would be prohibited even in the seed stage...

Yes, it's the Japanese responsibility and they should be the ones taking the initiative to settle the matter... but those Ramen and Sushi shops aren't responsible... nor the cars manufactured in Japan... The voice should be directed to the specific and appropriate incident and authority... such that the aim could be effectively manifested and achieved.

¥H¼É©ö¼É would only jeopardize the international relationship and lead to further tension.....

Any rebellion should be based upon a firm foundation of knowledge and understanding..... Otherwise, it would be yet another Boxer Rebellion in 1900 causing lots of innocent sacrifices of foreign residents (including many missionaries) in China-- while they should not be the objects of rebellion...... that's what i meant by "unreasonable and unacceptable" riot of the ppl

"¤@Ó¬F©²§Q¥Î¤H¥Áªº¥Ü«Â§Üij¨Óªí¹F¹ï¥t¤@Ó°ê®aªº¤£º¡ªº§@ªk, ¦³¿ù¶Ü?"

How many of those going on the streets and also those destroying stuff are actually doing this after thinking properly, and how many are doing this out of "you do, I do" or fueled by hormones?

Besides, I feel the worst thing is the destruction and level of non-contructive behaviour. The department stores sell chinese products. The cars are made by joint-ventures in *Chinese* factories and by *Chinese* workers. (only the label and design japanese.)

"the japanese had done (or still doing) uncivilized things in the history, but that doesnt justify us to do things that are uncivilized in nature"

Right on! This is one of the things that the Israelis and Palestinians are doing. If we do this here there'll only be retaliation, and no solution no matter how hard you try.

Manipulation~~ ^_^

Lastly... Send the eggs to Africa, then give the embassy a letter saying we've sent 5000 eggs to those in need in Africa, not waste it on you.

Hey Tong, I hope u still remember me.. This is Wong Chor Sang, but no one call me that anymore... call me Terence. Anyway, I haven't heard about you since you left SPCC!!

Though I am not that political, but I think the Japanese deserves that. Well, or if we look at the incidents the other way, the Chinese really need some "channels" to express their anger, and protects are perhaps the only way. Think about this, what if the Chinese Government prohibit people from protesting? Social instability I guess...
